Dear El Capitan High School Students and Families,
It is with immense excitement and pride that I introduce myself as the new principal of El Capitan High School, Carrie Gaeir. I am deeply honored to join the long-standing tradition of excellence at El Capitan High School, and I look forward to contributing to our incredible community.
My roots run deep in East County; I grew up here and have dedicated my entire professional career to serving the students and families of East County. For 18 years, I had the privilege of teaching English and Yearbook at Granite Hills High School. Following that, I served as an Assistant Principal at West Hills High School for six years, gaining valuable experience that I am thrilled to bring to El Capitan.
My goal for El Capitan High School is to continue building upon its rich history of excellence. My unwavering commitment is to uphold and embody our school's powerful motto: "You Belong Here." I believe that a truly valuable high school experience offers something for everyone, fostering an environment where every student can discover their passion, grow their talents, and feel a strong sense of belonging. El Capitan remarkably delivers on this promise, providing a diverse array of opportunities, including:
- Future Farmers of America (FFA)/Agriculture: Hands-on learning and leadership in agricultural sciences.
- Global Language & Leadership Program: Immersive studies in Spanish and Mandarin to prepare global citizens.
- Student Leadership: Opportunities to develop leadership skills and contribute to the school community.
- Honors and Advanced Placement (AP) courses: Rigorous academic pathways for advanced learners.
- Computer Science: Exploring the exciting world of technology and computational thinking.
- Medical Pathway: A specialized program for students interested in healthcare careers.
- Performing Arts: Unleash creativity in our beautiful Events Center.
- Visual Arts: Expressing individuality through various artistic mediums.
- Athletics: A wide range of sports fostering teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition.
- And much, much more!
I am eager to meet all of you and work together to ensure that every student at El Capitan High School thrives academically, socially, and emotionally. Please do not hesitate to introduce yourselves as I settle into my new role.
Go Vaqueros!
Warmly,
Carrie Gaeir, Principal
