Dear Vaquero Families,
We hope you are enjoying your summer, and as the beginning of a new school year is quickly approaching, we wanted to be sure to let you know of some very important information.
If you are an incoming 9th grade student or are a new student, you will need to complete the online registration process. Please visit the GUHSD online registration web page at www.guhsd.net/ourschools/online-registration for information and instructions. If you need assistance, please call the help desk at 619-956-4357, or you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. Starting August 1st , you may also come to our office and use one of our computers during school hours (9:00am to 2:00pm), and we can answer any questions you may have regarding registration. If you are a returning student and have already completed the online registration process, you do not need to register again.
All incoming 9th grade students are invited to attend Freshman Orientation on Monday, August 14th, starting at 8:00 am in our gym. We have a fun morning planned just for you, so you don’t want to miss it. Freshmen in attendance will be able to meet their classmates and V-Crew leaders, tour the campus, see a preview copy of their class schedules, and more. On this same day, we will also be hosting two sessions of Parent Orientation, one at 8:15 am, and the other at
11:30 am. Please see enclosed flyers for more information and sign-ups.
Beginning of School
Student schedules will be released for viewing via student and parent portals in Infinite Campus on Monday evening, August 14th. School starts on Tuesday, August 15th. Traffic at school is usually pretty heavy in the mornings, so please plan accordingly. We will distribute student ID cards the first week of school. There will be a picture makeup day on Thursday, August 31st for students who were not here for registration last spring. As you would on any school day, please remember to dress appropriately. Our dress code is available on our school website at www.elcapitan.guhsd.net. We will also be distributing Chromebooks for all students within the first few weeks of school. More information for students and parents will be shared via email and through all social science classes. Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to invite you to “Back to School Night” on Wednesday, September 6th, starting at 5:45 pm, so please mark your calendar for this important event.
As always, please do not hesitate to contact us at (619) 938-9100 if you have any questions, and we will be happy to help you.
Looking forward to a great school year with you,
