Congratulations to Corrie Monteverde on her selection to the 2011 Gladiator by SGI / National Field Hockey Coaches Association High School National Academic Squad. She was one of 900 athletes in the United States selected to the team from the more than 61,996 girls who played in the 2011 season. Not only was she one of only 25 athletes selected from California but she was the only athlete selected south of Los Angeles.

El Capitan High junior DELANIE GOURLEY, who pitches in the summer for ASA national champion So. Cal. Athletics, graces a recent cover of Softball Todaymagazine. The pitcher is on the August 2011 edition of the locally based publication.
Gourley pitched the A's, based in Los Alamitos, to the Premier Division crown, the highest level of ASA Girls Under-18 softball, in an event held at Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine. It was the team's second straight national title. |

We are proud to announce that Steve Vickery, head varsity baseball coach, has been selected to be inducted into the National High School Baseball Coaches Association's Hall of Fame on November 30, 2012 in St. Louis, Missouri at our annual convention.
Coach Steve Vickery was nominated and selected by his colleagues. The requirements for consideration include:
1. Being a member of our association for at least 10 years.
2. Been a head coach for at least 20 years.
3. Must have at least a winning percentage of .500.
4. Must have contributed to high school baseball by speaking at clinics, writing articles on the game of baseball.
5. Holding an office or an active member of our organization.
6. Involved in trying to make high school baseball safe and better across this country (rules changes, techniques taught, etc.).
This will be our sixth cohort of honorees. We wanted you to be aware of this great honor. Coach Vickery stands among the best in the country. |

Harley Judd, of El Capitan, was unanimously chosen as Grossmont Player of the Year for 2011! Way to go Harley!!!
POY Harley Judd El Capitan #3 Mid-field/Forward Senior 34 season goals (Breaking present records in SDSCIF Field Hockey Record Book), 43 career goals, 10 assists, SDFHOA Sportsmanship award 2010. She is a great young lady who loves and respects our sport. She will be continuing on playing in college.

Congratulations El Cap Frosh Football!!! |
Congratulations to our Freshman football team!! They ended up beating Mount Miguel 31-14 yesterday and are Valley League Champions!!! They ended their season with an 8-2 record and undefeated in League play! Awesome Job!!!
