El Capitan AP Program Competitive Within District |
 El Capitan's Advanced Program ranks as one of the best in the District. Last year, our students took 388 AP exams--a very large number for a school our size. Of those 388 exams taken, our students passed 241 with a score of "3" or better.
Last year, El Capitan ranked number one in the District for tests passed in the following exams: Art History, Environmental Science, and Macroeconomics. We also ranked among the top three in the District for the following exams: European History, Human Geography, Microeconomics, Spanish Language, and Studio Art: Drawing. |

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, administered by The College Board of New York, allows students to participate in college level courses and possibly earn college credit
wh  ile still in high school. El Capitan offers 17 different AP courses.
It has been shown that students master complex content at the college level more easily after completing AP courses in high school. Students also acquire sophisticated academic skills and increased self-confidence in preparation for college.
